Welcome to the Art of Osteo.
The Art of Osteo was established in 2021 from our home in Millwater. Starting my own practice and establishing myself independently has been a goal for many years, now coming to fruition as I return to work since the birth of my son in 2020. My aim is to deliver a professional yet personable experience with your care and prompt recovery at the forefront of every session. I use a combination of osteopathic techniques including soft tissue/massage, joint manipulation or mobilisation, cranial and functional techniques to achieve this goal as well as discussing possible predisposing or maintaining factors and provide advice on stretches and/or strengthening exercises if indicated for self-care.
For any body related issues from general aches and pains, sporting injuries, headaches, gut issues, anxiety, pregnancy related aches and pains or fussy infants, Osteopathy can help. If you would like further advice or have any queries whether Osteopathy is the right fit for you, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

What is an Osteopath and what do we do?
The recognition and awareness of Osteopathy and what Osteopaths do is quickly growing in New Zealand. Osteopaths are primary care practitioners who use manual therapy in order to promote correct function, tissue healing, injury recovery, flexibility and general health. Your osteopathic practitioner may use a variety of techniques including soft tissue (massage), muscle or joint stretching, neuromuscular techniques, joint mobilisation or manipulation, visceral or lymphatic techniques during the course of a treatment.
Our aims for treatment depend on the case at hand however primarily are focused to restore joint mobility, reduce abnormal muscle tension or spasm, relieve pressure causing neural compromise, reduce swelling and promote circulation. We work closely with doctors and specialists should a case arise that is beyond the scope of manual therapy or if a second opinion is indicated.

What is Paediatric Osteopathy?
Paediatric osteopathy is a very gentle form of osteopathic treatment which can effectively treat the entire body in a safe way. Paediatric osteopathic treatment and how it can help your little one has gained the support of many Midwives, Plunket nurses and Antenatal teachers who now refer to osteopaths for a variety of reasons. Baby are commonly born with tension and/or strains of the head, neck as well as other areas of their body. This is often due to the limited space available in the late stages of pregnancy, the lay of a baby in utero, the compressive forces involved in labour, the instrumentation sometimes used in labour and effects of Caesarean section on baby. The effect of these strains can be seen as head preferences (baby turning their head only to one side), flattening of one area of the head, feeding issues, difficulty releasing wind, digestive issues including reflux and colic pain, constipation or unexplained unsettledness. The paediatric field of Osteopathy is incredibly rewarding being able to help those yet to have a voice.
Accident Compensation Corporation - ACC
All citizens, permanent residents and visitors of New Zealand are covered by ACC’s no-fault scheme if injured in an accident. This includes children, beneficiaries and students. Your cover is not dependant on whether you are working, unemployed or retired.
Being an ACC registered Osteopath means your injury can be registered directly with ACC during your appointment meaning theres no need to see a doctor or physio before treatment unless your private insurance company or workplace state otherwise. Once your claim is approved, ACC agree to subsidise your osteopathic treatment costs meaning your care is more affordable and any the cost of any X-ray or ultrasound scans or specialist care relating to the covered accident can be heavily reduced.
